Departing from Monganui / Doubtless Bay in the Far North of New Zealand. The Three Kings and Princes Group are very remote rocky islands 50nm northwest of Cape Reinga. The fishing territory consists of several banks (such as the King and Middlesex Banks) with a range of deep trenches and sea mounts. Featuring a wide variety of some of the best fishing New Zealand has to offer, Hapuka, Bass, Kingfish, King Terakihi, Yellowfin Tuna, Marlin, Stripped, Blue and Black, Mahi Mahi, even the occasional wahoo, Snapper fishing on the North Island West Coast – maria van demon.
Famous for Marlin fishing from March till Mid June each year, due to bait and food source and the blue water East Auckland currents. This is also the last place marlin feed before their long journey north for the winter. |

No fishing pressure so also excellent Hapuka, Bass and Kingfish fishing, not accessible by the smaller, recreational angler. Remote and isolated from coastal New Zealand, upwellings and currents are prolific and great for the yellowtail kingfish.
Night fishing for Broadbill Swordfish is also an option on five day charters, weather depending.
Mechanical Jigging Heaven as seen on the Jigging Master DVD . The Three Kings features several areas in which to target the Yellowtail Kingfish on Jigs or Baits. Sizes range from 15-20kg to 30-40kg+ and are plentiful. |
