The place where the real Jurassic Park lives. Situated 25 nautical miles northeast of Hicks Bay / East Cape. The Ranfurly Banks terrain covers 20 miles of sea mounts and ranges with rugged rocky seabeds and drop offs. Rising from 2000 metres to 40 metres on the tops. The strong currents and upwellings attract and excite the likes of the Yellowtail Kingfish and provide an abundance of food for XOS Hapuka, bass, bluenose, trumpeter and terakihi . In the summertime the chance of a Yellowfin Tuna and Marlin, Stripped and the big Blue Marlin up to 1000lbs!
Why is fishing so good? Isolated and remote – Ranfurly is an open water area not easily accessible by most recreational angler due to currents and weather conditions as well as distance from port. |

Great place for mechanical jigging, frequented by some of the great jigging specialists every year. As seen on the Heavy Metal DVD and ITM Fishing Show.
